Casa Decor 2026: history, architecture and design in the heart of the Barrio de las Letras
We already know the building that will host Casa Decor 2026, an exceptional venue full of history located at 11 San Agustín Street, in the heart of Madrid’s Barrio de las Letras, on the corner of Cervantes Street. A unique enclave that, for the first time, places the exhibition in the heart of one of the most emblematic and cultural neighbourhoods of the city, closely linked to the great figures of the Spanish Golden Age.
The exhibition will take place from April 9 to May 24, 2026 and will take place in a house-palace built between 1892 and 1895 by the architect Enrique Sánchez y Rodríguez as a noble residence. Over more than a century, the building has gone through different stages – urban palace, convent and school – preserving architectural elements of great value that are still present today and dialogue with contemporary design.
Among its most representative spaces are the monumental staircase in the lobby, the marble floors, the original stained glass windows and the noble rooms on the main floor, configuring a sober, elegant and deeply inspiring architectural complex. From 1941, the building was extended and adapted, reaching a current constructed area of more than 3,500 m², without losing its stately character.
The location of the building, very close to the Paseo del Prado – declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO – reinforces the cultural value of this edition, in which urban planning, architecture, design, art, history and creativity converge. Casa Decor 2026 is thus presented as a true “golden edition”, reaffirming its vocation as a curatorial project capable of transforming historic buildings into contemporary spaces of reference.
After the exhibition, the building will be refurbished to house the future Sir Agustín luxury hotel, a project led by Sircle Collection and Take Point that will respect the historical essence of the building and integrate new architectural and design interventions, giving it a new life without losing its identity.
In this very special context, we are very excited to announce that, once again, we will be part of Casa Decor in its 61st edition. A new creative challenge that we face with enthusiasm and responsibility, aware of the value of the space that welcomes us and the dialogue between past and present that defines this edition.
