Dialogue between architecture and design
The Espai Rambleta will be the scene of ‘XL/xs Designed x Architects’, an exhibition that addresses the link between the architect and the world of design through unique pieces and works.
The exhibition will be curated by the architect and designer Ramón Esteve and is part of the agenda of activities of ‘See you in Valencia’.
The Cambra room of the Espai Rambleta in Valencia will be the stage from the next February 11 of the exhibition ‘XL/xs Designed by architects’. It is an exhibition organized by the Territorial College of Architects of Valencia and curated by the Valencian architect and designer Ramón Esteve whose objective is to explore the relationship between the architect and the world of design through different pieces and singular projects.
“The architect has always had a close link to the world of design. Under this profession, great pieces have been born, either because of their unique status or in order to intensify the conceptual language of architecture. This collaboration with the world of design continues today, within the framework of multidisciplinary teams that complement each other by providing knowledge”, the organizers of the exhibition write.
The exhibition will open in the framework of the celebration at Feria Valencia from 11 to 14 February of the Cevisama, Habitat and Fimma Maderalia competitions, fairs where both architecture and design play an essential role. In this sense, ‘XL/xs Designed x architects’ will be part of the agenda of ‘We See You in Valencia 2014’, the initiative that groups the joint celebration of these fairs and the events that are held in parallel.
Architect’s contribution to the world of design
The exhibition will collect a selection of products designed by Spanish architects and international professionals who work with publishers and producers in our country. In addition, it will also exhibit projects of students and young emerging professionals that generate a special interest in their innovative potential, from all areas covered by the architect, from everyday objects, fashion products, construction, design graphic, lighting, etc. A commission made up of professionals from different fields will be responsible for selecting the parts. The commission will assess designs created with attention, care, dedication, willingness to progress and technological and non-technological innovation, and therefore worthy of recognition.
The exhibition project will be carried out with the special collaboration of the tape art collective, TAV and two categories have been established in which participants can submit their proposals: Firstly professional architects or companies already with product edited or unedited pieces of special interest; and, in a second category, architecture students with innovative and unique products.
Proposals will be sent by email to exposiciónxlxs@ctav.es with a deadline of receipt until 17 January and the failure of the Selection Committee will be communicated by 23 January.
